The GreenHouse Recording Checklist: Best Practices For Recording in Riverside
Please review before your tech session and again before every recording session.
1. Use Google Chrome
Riverside works best in Chrome. Other browsers can interfere with recording quality.
🌿 If you do not yet have Chrome, download here: google.com/chrome
🌿 Always open your GHP studio link in Chrome.
2. Allow Chrome to Save Site Data
Riverside stores high-quality footage in your browser before uploading. If this is blocked or your storage is full, recordings can be lost.
To allow site data:
🌿 Paste this into Chrome: chrome://settings/content/siteData
🌿 Under “Default behavior,” choose “Allow sites to save data”
🌿 Optional: under “Customized behaviors,” click “Add” and enter riverside.fm
To check storage space:
🌿 Paste this into Chrome: chrome://quota-internals
🌿 You should have at least 5GB of free space
Do not use incognito/private mode.
3. Set Your Mic Input to 75%
Even if Riverside sees your mic, your system volume may be too low.
🌿 On Mac: System Settings → Sound → Input → Select your mic → Set input volume to about 75%
🌿 On Windows: Settings → System → Sound → Input → Select your mic → Click “Device Properties” → Set input volume to about 75%
4. Check Camera Framing and Tracking
Make sure your camera is not zoomed in and not auto-tracking you. If the camera follows your movement, auto-tracking is on and should be turned off.
If you’re using an Insta360 camera:
🌿 Download the Insta360 app
🌿 Connect your camera
🌿 Open the app and turn off Auto Tracking or Follow Mode
5. Enable Background Blur
This helps your video look cleaner and more professional.
In Riverside, hover over your self-view during the session. Click the small wand icon in the top corner and go to Blur > Full Blur.
6. Quick Session Prep!
🌿 Quit all other video or audio apps (Zoom, Slack, FaceTime, etc.)
🌿 Plug in your laptop (don’t run on battery)
🌿 Restart your computer 15–30 minutes before recording
🌿 Be close to your Wi-Fi router or use Ethernet
🌿 After the session ends, wait for Riverside to finish uploading before closing your browser tab
